The oldest of seven siblings, Ann grew up on a ranch in Colorado where she learned to ride horses and herd cattle almost as soon as she could walk. Despite her rough-and-tumble ranch life, she became an accomplished ballerina at an early age.
Ann graduated from college in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army and served initially at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. She received an inter-service transfer to the US Air Force in 1975 and served for an additional 30 years on active duty and in the Reserves. She is a combat veteran and served in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-91. Among her many honors she was the Air Force Reserved Nurse of the year in 1992. She retired from the Air Force in 2004 as a Lt. Colonel.
Ann has worked in OB/GYN and podiatry, in an ad hoc clinic in Nahariya, Israel and in the Stafford Univeristy Spinal Cord Injury Unit. She received her Masters Degree as a Nurse Practioner from George Washington Univeristy and subsequently worked as a nurse practitioner at Dewitt Army Medical Center, at the Langley Clinic, and in other clinics in Smokey Point and Everett Washington.
